Topology
Network
Topologies are the arrangement of a computer network including its node and
connecting various node through lines. There are many various types of network
topologies.
Type Of Topology
- BUS TOPOLOGY.
- STAR TOPOLOGY.
- RING TOPOLOGY.
- TREE TOPOLOGY.
- MESH TOPOLOGY.
- HYBRID TOPOLOGY.
1) Bus Topology
Bus topology is a simple networking
topology. bus Topology is every Computer and network device is connected to
Single cable. If one device is a failure then other devices do not effect.
All data Pass-through
each of the connected devices.
[ This Figure Is Bus topology in Network ]
Advantages
- easy to
understand.
- Multicasting
And Broadcasting is much simpler.
- Easy
installation.
- Less cable
requires. cost of cable is less.
Disadvantages
- Less secure.
- If network
traffic is heavy then data transmission slow.
- not work well
under heavy traffic load.
- less secure.
2) Star Topology
Star topology,
all devices connected a central switch/hub. Signals are transmitted and
received the hub. can be used with optical fibers or coaxial cable.
[ This Figure Is
Star topology in Network ]
Advantages
- Easy to set up
and expand.
- low network
traffic.
- faster than to
bus topology.
Disadvantages
- Expensive to
use.
- Installation
cost is high.
- Multicasting
And Broadcasting is not easy.
- If hub/switch
are failures then connected device are not working.
3) Ring Topology
Ring topology is connected in the circle of cable. Each computer is connected to another computer. Failure any device than a failure of the whole ring.
- Data is
transferred in a sequential.
- Data
transmission is Both directional.
[ This Figure Is
Ring topology in Network ]
Advantages
- less expensive
since less cable.
- performs
better than the star networks.
Disadvantages
- Error
detection and network become difficult.
- Failure of one
computer devices can affect the whole network.
4) Tree Topology
Devices are connected to forming a hierarchy. Used
the main backbone cable. Used in Wide Area Network (WANs).
[ This Figure Is tree topology in Network ]
Advantages
- bus topology
or star topology Both used.
- Error
detection is easy.
- Easy
expansion.
- Easy
maintained.
Disadvantages
- Cost is high.
- Backbone cable
Break all whole network fail.
5) Mesh Topology
All the nodes
are connected to each other.
- Every computer
is connected via a dedicated link.
- point to point
connection
Two Type of Mesh
Topology.
1)Full mesh.
2)partially.
[ This Figure Is Mesh topology in Network ]
Advantages
- Secure.
- No traffic
problem.
Disadvantages
- Cost high.
- More Cables
required.
- Maintenance is
difficult.
6) Hybrid Topology
This topology is two different types of topology
used. For Ex one Bus topology and one ring topology used.
[ This Figure Is Hybrid topology in Network ]
Advantages
- Flexible.
Disadvantages
- High cost.
